Sue Sharples Memorial Trophy Preliminary Round
Fulham Deaf Ladies v Headstone Manor Ladies

Fulham Deaf Ladies had a two week ‘vacation’ from competitive action, so they were fresh from their gallant comeback against British Airways.

Only one game in and Fulham  found themselves competing in the Sue Sharples Memorial Cup, vying for a place beyond the preliminary round against Headstone Manor.

It wasn’t long before Headstone were picking the ball out of their own net. Some neat work from Fulham, pressurising the defence, saw Headstone Manor concede a penalty for handball. Camilla duly converted the spot kick and Fulham were on their way to a fine victory.

Another goal quickly followed, Camilla popped up again, finishing from a sublime flick on from Premi (2-0). The lead was almost extended further, but Premi’s shot hit the woodwork.Fulham went in at 2-0 up for the interval.

Confidence grew and Fulham were evidently enjoying the game. A wonderfully worked quick throw-in and a neat interchange of passes between Mandy, Camilla and Premi, ensure that Pembe was the next name on the score sheet (3-0).

A buoyant Fulham pressed on and Camilla secured the match ball, by banging in her third from a quick goal kick from Natasha Ryan to complete her hat-trick (4-0).

Fulham were not finished at this stage and Premi pounced on a mistake from Headstone Manor to slot in the fifth and final goal (5-0). A tireless and effortless display of strength that duly got Premi the player of the match.

Greater London Women’s Football League Division Three South
Sloane Ladies v Fulham Deaf Ladies

Going into the first league match of the season against a new team in Sloane Ladies FC in the city of London, a stone throw from the River Thames makes you think ‘how it is possible to have a football pitch in the city of London!?’

A late kick off due a late arrival of the referee, but a sunny day meant all players were comfortable warmed up.

For the first 20 minutes of the game, Fulham were guilty of more than 6 bad misses in front of the goal. Eventually, Pembe rewarded us a quick stab to poke in the goal after a goal scrabble.

We were clearly the better team in terms of skills, but Sloane Ladies FC deserve a mentioned of their supreme fitness levels.

A wake up call when we scored an own goal, where Sloane Ladies FC equalised. A heavy pressure on Sloane Ladies defence lines, leading us to score 7 goals at full time.

Squad: Natasha, Lydia, Susanna, Viccy Paull-Martin, Mandy, Eleni, Vickie Wenman, Pembe, Camilla, Premi.Sub: Shezzel for Dikmaya, Laura for Camilla.

Scorers: Pembe, Camilla x 4, Eleni x 2.  Own goal by Dikmaya.

Player of the Match: Camilla
