Presentation Party 2009

On Saturday 6th June, all of FDFC gathered to celebrate another fine season at the SW6 Bar Craven Cottage, the home of Fulham FC. The FFC Community Sports Trust kicked off the evening with a stadium tour put on for all the stylishly dressed FDFC players and guests.

The tour took everyone into the players lounge, changing rooms, press room, chairmans lounge and many other parts of the beautiful stadium which boasts the oldest stand in the football league – The Johnny Haynes Stand (1905).

FDFC players and guests were also shown – for the first time – where all the trophies amassed by Fulham DFC in its short history are kept. It was interesting to learn that the English Deaf Cup, which the 1st Team held last season after winning in 2008, was the biggest trophy in the FFC cabinet. It gained the most interest by the general public on the official FFC Stadium Tours due to its size, it is now in the hands of Doncaster DFC the current winners.

Once the tours were finished everyone settled down to some delicious canapes, and took part in a shooting competition in an inflated cage, kindly provided by the FFC Community Sports Trust.

The presentation opened with Chairman Nick Beese introducing the guest of honour for the night – Martin Willis, the newly elected Great Britain Deaf Women’s Chairman and also father to the two FDFC goal scoring machines Camilla and Jacob Willis.

The awards were introduced by the respective managers of each squad they all gave a speech summing up the season. Each winner came up to be presented with their award by GB Deaf Women’s Chairman Martin Willis.

The biggest cheer of the night went to the ladies squad, who achieved a phenomenal treble, making deaf and mainstream football history, once the awards were all given out the celebrations started and went on long into the night!
