Fulham FC welcomed the Liverpool FC Youth Deaf team to
Motspur Park on Saturday 2nd October 2004. Following Fulham Deaf Youth's success
in the Brighton tournament during the summer, Fulham were keen to protect their
unbeaten run.

The match was set out into 4 x 20 minute games, allowing
all players to have the opportunity to represent their clubs and show off the
skills they have adopted since Fulham and Liverpool Football Club Community
Schemes kicked off their support of deaf youth football.

All games were
played in a competitive manner, with all the players ensuring fair play and
sportsmanship throughout the course of the day.

The first game was a
tight affair with Fulham running out winners 2-1. The second game saw a swing in
favour of Liverpool as they gathered a 7-2 win, making the scores 8-4 on
aggregate.

Fulham DYFC then, after a team talk from Mark Saunderson, got
their act together and produced some fine football to take the third game 10 – 0
and turn the tables yet again, going ahead on aggregate 14 – 8.

The
final game was a tense affair, with both sides playing some good football and a
desire to take the win for their clubs. Fulham held the lead throughout the 20
minute period, with Liverpool fighting back each time to stay in touch. Fulham
held on to take the final game 6-4 and run out overall winners 20 – 12.

The two teams should be proud of the football they played, providing the
spectators with skill, passing and some fine goals. They represented their clubs
with a true professional manner.
