Fulham Deaf lose at home for first time

West End went 1 – 0 up after some neglectful defending by Fulham Deaf. The home side had poor ball possession, which allowed West End to produce some dangerous through balls. The first half was a scrappy affair best forgotten and Fulham DFC counted themselves lucky not to be more than a goal down at half time.

Richard Jeffers came on for Kevin Harewood during half time to add speed to the match. Almost immediately with less than five minutes gone in the second half, his overhead kick equalised the match at 1 all.

Fulham Deaf went on the counter attack and won a series of corners that amounted to nothing. With ten minutes gone on the clock in the second half, Andrew Drury, on the end of a Jeffers' cross unleashed a screamer from 24 yards out to put Fulham Deaf 2 – 1 up.

Mark Gill came on for Ryan Pendley who was limping and Peter Drinnan came on for Rowan Dixon.

The match came to a bit of a standstill with neither teams creating chances and it was a dull moment of the game. West End also made a couple of substitutions.

Fulham Deaf's defence was caught ball watching when the ball was headed over Richard Parker with fifteen minutes to go. At 2 all, the game was now wide open.

Ben Lampert put through Nick Beese on an excellent one-two and Beese missed a great opportunity to put Fulham Deaf in a winning position. Beese's shot went well wide and over the bar, unfortunately after what was a good build up from inside Fulham Deaf's half.

After some pressure from West End, they won a corner. With ten minutes to go, from the resulting corner, the ball was headed down deep into the net to Fulham Deaf's despair.

The remaining minutes saw Fulham Deaf pile the pressure inside West End's half but to no avail. It would have been perhaps a fairer result if this match ended in a draw but Fulham Deaf now had to pay the consequences of giving away three sloppy goals. Worse was that they all were conceded at home.

Final score Fulham DFC 2 – 3 West End Esher (half time 0 – 1)
