The
fifteen FDFC stars representing Great Britain and Ireland despite
putting in valiant efforts and doing their countries proud, all came
home
empty handed from the 21st Summer Deaflympics, at Taiwan, Tapei.

Jon
Evans (Captain), Ben Lampert, Daniel Hogan, Ayad Sarraf (Assistant
Manager), Mark Gill (GB Men Logistics Manager/Coach) from the men’s
squad were part of the Great Britain squad who competed as defending
champions, after winning gold in the 2005 games. Great Britain men had
a frustrating Deaflympics, finishing in 9th place despite only losing
one game in the entire tournament, which was against USA in the group
stages.

Bryan Moore and Eoin Burns represented Ireland and finished in 8th place, after getting knocked out by France.

The eventual winners were Ukraine, who defeated Russia in the final.

Great
Britain Women, boosted by eight players from the treble winning Fulham
Deaf Ladies squad narrowly missed out on winning bronze, after losing
to Russia in the bronze medal play off.

FDFC
Ladies Lydia Docker, Susanna Kenward, Roanna Simmons, Victoria Wenman,
Camilla Willis, Esther Maycock (Captain), Clare Davies and Natasha Ryan
were all part of the squad which were looking to better their bronze
medal feat at the Melbourne 2005 Deaflympics. USA defeated Germany to
win Gold for the second time.

Fulham DFC are
immensely proud that the ladies squad had a record club representation
in the GB Ladies Squad, and the club were the sole provider of both
captains, with FDFC Mens captain Jon Evans captaining the GB Squad, and
FDFC Ladies captain Esther Maycock captaining the ladies squad.
