DCL ANTALYA, TURKEY 2015 – GROUP STAGE – 2ND GAME
Fulham DFC 3-1 Golcuk I.E.S.K. (on 22/04/2015 – Report by Jason Mycroft)
3 goals were scored in the first 10 minutes as Fulham DFC beat Golcuk I.E.S.K 3-1, virtually guaranteeing a top two finish for Fulham. First half goals from Jacob Willis and an own goal was enough in a thrilling game.
After a scoreless draw against Paris, Fulham were looking to rectify that against Golcuk and got the worst possible start when Nick Gregory’s headed pass was intercepted. The opposition played a through ball and due to a collision between Sam Kemp and Daniel Rumney, the striker was then free to score in an unguarded net.
It barely mattered as less than a minute later Fulham had equalised. The goal starting with a superb lofted through ball from right back Andrew Kenward to find Tom Collard. Tom Collard drove a low cross which was turned into the net by the opposition defender.
Buoyed with their first goal, Fulham pressed on and superb work from Collard allowed Willis to score his first of the tournament. With Fulham firmly in control it was not long before Joseph Wylde, making a surprise appearance for Fulham in this tournament, found Willis with a long ball. Willis chested the ball down and after a fake shot, rounded the goalkeeper to do what he does best.
While there were some absolutely dazzling runs from both Collard and Willis, neither could find another goal in them although Collard came close with a header in the second half that went just missed the target.
In a repeat of the first match, it was a similar story defensively as Fulham repelled wave after wave of ineffective Golcuk attacks. Fulham will have hardly any issues with the way they defended to see out the remainder of the game.
