Sunday 4th September 2011 – Friendly match
British Airways Ladies v Fulham Deaf Ladies

British Airways hosted Fulham Deaf ladies under the flight path near Heathrow Airport.
With this match being a friendly, there was no intention to give the other team an easy ride. Fulham needed a match to get it out of the way and go to their first league match with excitement and confident to do well in the League.

BA (British Airways) had already played 4 friendly matches prior to this match, with this being Fulham first official friendly match of the season. A simple 4-4-2 formation with Lydia Docker leading the team out.

Straight away in the game, there was a sense of eagerness from both teams to do well. With a back to front game, with both of the defence lines keeping their cool. However a mis-communication between Lydia and Natasha that almost lead to an own-goal, but Lydia quickly averted the danger.

BA bossed the midfield in the first half that led to their first and second goal from set pieces.

After a quick pep talk at half time, the game was far from over. For new signing Sarah Page and a veteran player in Eleni, they took back control of the midfield and they were far fitter than the opposition.

Our wingers Pembe and Mandy worked tirelessly to attack and knowing their responsibilities to support the defenders.

There were moments of classical play between wingers with the central midfielders, makes us wonder how did we get relegated last season!

Camilla Willis scored the first goal of the season; after being absence over a year through from a serious ankle operation.

The belief to get that 2nd goal came soon after, where Premi scored from an angle that she should be proud of.

Both goals came from sublimed passes from Sarah Page in midfield, which she got Player of the Match.

Squad: Natasha Ryan, Hattie Bowden, Susanna Kenward, Lydia Docker, Viccy Paull-Martin, Mandy Tobin, Eleni Botonaki, Sarah Page, Pembe Alp, Camilla Wills, Premi Pushpalingham, Shezzel Foster.

Scorers: Camilla Willis & Premi Pushpalingham
