9 Fulham Players Called Up For GB Deaf Trial
Goal machine Shyloh Morally, central defenders John Docker and Chris
Bunker, midfielders Mark Gill, Ewan McGreevy and Player of the Year
Panmun Jacob–Lot and winger Ben Lampert have all earned a trial for the
Great Britain Deaf European Championships Squad.
Nick Beese has also been called up to take some part in the trial, as
he has yet to regain full fitness since having ACL Surgery on his knee,
which has kept him out of the picture since the Deaflympics in 2005.
Fulham new boy Greg Beedie, the former player/manager of London rivals
St John Arsenal who is also recovering from ACL Surgery after being
involved with the GB squad pre Melbourne 2005 has also been called up
to take part in the trial.
Goal Keeper Michael O'Mahony who kept goal in the second leg against Sweden, has declared himself unavailable for the Europeans, citing family commitments.
GB Manager Phillip Gardner and his assistant, Fulham manager Ayad Sarraf will be looking to strengthen and finalise the squad for the European Championships in Lisbon, Portugal this summer. Great Britain are taking the 2007 Europeans very seriously for despite being World Champions on six occasions, Great Britain has a very poor record in previous European Championships and will be determined to put the record straight.
The trial will be taking place in Milton Keynes on Sunday 14th January. Best of luck to the seven on trial this Sunday!
The European Championships will take place from the 10th to 23rd of June 2007. Great Britain have been grouped with Portugal, Czech Republic and Hungary while Fulham striker Bryan Moore's Ireland have been grouped with Ukraine Russia and Belgium. Germany, France, Cyprus and Denmark form the other group.
